En mai 2011, Avarus célèbre ses 10 ans d’existence avec une tournée européenne. La formation free rock finlandaise à géométrie variable (parfois jusqu’à 10 personnes sur scène) a déjà effectué plusieurs tournées en Europe et deux aux USA. Elle a partagé l’affiche à de nombreuses reprises en Finlande avec Sunburned Hand Of The Man ou No-Neck Blues Band, avec lesquels elle a souvent été comparée.

Aujourd’hui, la discographie du groupe comporte environ une quinzaine d’albums, sortis sur des labels aussi prestigieux que Secret Eye, Arbor ou Ultra Eczema.

Avarus est le noyau de toute une scène finlandaise exaltante, dont les émanations vont du mantra introspectif au free jazz en passant par le chaos total. Plusieurs de ses membres ont constitué des projets parallèles (Tomuttontu, Hetero Skeleton, Maniac Dreams, Kemialliset Ystävät, Pylon, Nuslux…), et Lal lal lal, leur propre label, a publié des cassettes ou des disques fondamentaux (Skaters, Neil Campbell, The Demars, Fricara Pacchu…).
